Saturday, March 19

Is God working on you? He certainly is on me! There have been many times over the past couple of weeks when I recall a scripture, sermon, or thought that sounds like God whispering, "Remember to honor me." It's so easy to rely on my own emotions when dealing with "issues" instead of doing the right thing. It's a battle but one worth fighting, for sure.

I took Friday off to go visit my parents. My dad has fallen several times and I decided it was time for me to go convince him to use a walker. Evidently, my mom beat me to it because he was coming down the hall with it when I arrived! Thankfully, my mom reports he is using it faithfully. He is very, very weak and while we continue to pray for healing, the immediate prayer is for strength. Currently, taking a shower pretty much takes the energy out of him for the day. That doesn't make for a very exciting day. While in Trenton, I got to meet my newest great-niece, Kaylin as well as play some with Addison and Karlee. I can tell that all the great-grands are important in keeping Daddy's spirits up. Addison (3 1/2)played a game with him where he would try to catch her with his cane. He sat, she ran by, he reached out with the cane, you get the picture. I am so thankful that my sister, Peggy, and her children live in town so that they can visit frequently...and they do.

I gave up Facebook for Lent. I'm realizing how very much I was connected to my phone because of Facebook. It had become a way of communicating with some people I had lost touch with for years and I miss that but my mind is turned to what God sacrificed for me on a regular basis. It also is clear that I need to work harder to stay in touch with people I love. Hmm...I see a theme here. Work harder to stay in touch with people I love as well as with God, the Father. Sounds like a win-win!

Speaking of staying in touch with people, I attended a Wekiva High lacrosse game this week to see Shelbie Jo play. It was great to see her and PJ but it was also wonderful to see the Eaves who attended our Apopka church! Their daughter plays for Apopka and they saw me in the stands. What a blessing they were as they shared how much they enjoyed our time in Apopka and how Henry's sermons had blessed them. It would have been easy for them not to say anything but I'm so thankful they did.

What a beautiful day today! We got in the pool for the first time this year! Technically, I guess Kaleb was the first one in the pool this year since he fell in while playing at the edge a couple of weeks ago. He proved that he remembers how to turn over and grab the side of the pool! He also told us with his chattering lips that it was too cold. Today, it was still cold but felt great with the beautiful sunshine. I am so thankful God as blessed us with a home and we enjoy it so very much.

Prayer requests for continued healing for Angie's latest knee surgery. She returned to work part-time this past week. She's a trooper and it's hard to believe it has been almost 15 months since the ski accident.. Also, please pray for my friend from high school, Rita. She was diagnosed with hepatitis C and is taking shots for treatment that basically make her feel like she has a bad case of the flu. It's been about 16 weeks now (can you imagine 16 weeks of the flu?)...I think she has 8 more to go after this weekend. We pray for remissions. Angie and Rita - two sweet women of God that I love very much.

Looking forward to church in the morning where Mike is preaching a series called, "Never Alone." I love it! Make it a great week!
