Happy New Year! We have just returned from an overnight trip to Macclenny where Henry did the funeral for Gary, a friend who was in our congregation there. He died suddenly this week. What a gift to be able to minister to his family as well as reconnect with many of the people who attended our church back then. I was also awed as I watched Henry in the role of pastor again. Too many emotions to spill them out onto paper but, wow, what a blessing I received from just sitting back and watching today.
We got to visit with Wade, the first teenager to live with us as family. Even though we don't get to visit very often, it was like we picked up right where we left off. We love that "boy" (he now has a 16 year old of his own). We spent the night with the Lane's who were our best friends back then. We did snowskiing trips together back in the day and had more fun just being together hanging out. Through the years, our lives have gone their separate ways and while we touched based periodically, we didn't stay connected the way we should have. Thankfully, we also picked up right where we left off and it was like a warm blanket to be with them and just get caught up on life. The Fraser family was just as warm and loving as they were back in the day too and thanked Henry over and over for his ministry back in the 80's and at this very sad time of their family life.
There's a myth that whatever you are doing the first day of the new year you will continue to do throughout that year. Some people might say that it looks like a lot of funerals are in our future. However, what we feel is that a lot of friend reconnections are in our future as well as opportunities to minister to others through our new church family.
May God bless you as you look toward 2011. It's going to be an exciting year! As always, please email or call any time! We would love to hear from you!
Pam
